Only three days ago, the federal government announced that fuel prices would remain unchanged for the latest review. Now, in an unexpected move, motorists across Pakistan are getting some relief at the pump.

As of July 4, 2026, petrol now costs Rs. 297.53 per liter, while High-Speed Diesel (HSD) has dropped to Rs. 309.50 per liter. That's a reduction of Rs. 1.97 per liter for both fuels compared to the rates announced on July 1.

If you read our previous update, you'll remember that the government had initially decided to keep prices unchanged. You can read that article here: Fuel Prices Remained Unchanged on July 1, 2026.

Latest Fuel Prices in Pakistan

The new government-notified rates are:

These prices apply across Pakistan, including Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, Faisalabad, and other cities. Since fuel prices are regulated by the federal government, the official rate remains the same nationwide.

Why Did Fuel Prices Change So Soon?

The July 1 review ended with no changes, which led many motorists to expect the same prices for another two weeks. Instead, the government announced a fresh reduction just days later.

While international oil prices and the exchange rate continue to influence fuel pricing, government decisions can also reflect changing market conditions and fiscal policy. The latest revision gives drivers a small but welcome reduction after what initially looked like a stable pricing period.

How Much Will You Actually Save?

The reduction may not seem huge at first glance, but it becomes more noticeable over a full tank.

A car with a 40-liter fuel tank now costs almost Rs. 79 less to fill than it did a few days ago. If you drive daily or regularly travel across Lahore, those savings can add up over the month.

Of course, your driving habits and your car's condition still have a much bigger impact on your overall fuel costs than a Rs. 2 price reduction.

Want to Stretch Every Liter Even Further?

A lower fuel price is good news, but getting better mileage is even better.

If your engine isn't running efficiently, your tire pressure is low, or your air filter is clogged, your car could be consuming far more fuel than necessary. Many drivers blame fuel prices when the real problem is overdue maintenance.

At AutoSpot, we help Lahore drivers improve fuel economy through proper diagnostics and maintenance. Whether it's an engine tune-up, oil change, or a complete inspection, we'll make sure your car is running as efficiently as possible so every liter goes further.
